Dear Parents
As I volunteered to be a parent representative along with Laima (Goda's mum) and Stella (Konstantinos' mum) or be a helping hand to Laima and Stella this year, I would like to ask if you wanted to have "get-together" time one day before week 42?
Suggestions are to go to mini zoo (the same or similar place, where Nika's and Goda's birthday party had been held) or just some other park with playground.
Looking forward to hear from each of you with thoughts and proposals.
Best regards

Jannet, Laima and Stella

Hello stage 1 parents,
Sarita (Vedants mother) and I would like to invite all of you and the children to come to Leo's Legeland at the 7 th of October at 14.00 o' clock. We think it would be nice for the children and parents to get to know each other a bit better.

Other activities with stage 1 will be planned later this year!
Best regards,
Marjolein

Dear parents

First, thank you for the conferences we had Tuesday. Thank you for waiting when the timetable didn't hold up, and thank you for all the positive feedback you gave me regarding our SFO. 10 minutes is not a lot of time, but I hope you got an overview of your child days in the SFO and school. If you have anything you forgot to say at the time, but now remembers, feel free to contact me anytime :)

A lot of the children are now participating in the roleplaying groups I started, and it is so much fun (for all of us!). If you have questions about this activity, please also contact me. I did try to explain it to a couple of you Tuesday, but I'm sure it can be confusing:)

Overall, as I said to all of you, we have a really good class with children full of good intentions and qualities. The boys are doing well at the moment, though there are at bit of work with the way they play football in breaktimes it seems. The girls have a phase where they reestablish who's the boss, so there are some conflicts that we handle regularly. Not all are participating in this proces, so if you haven't heard anything at home, don't worry :)

I have brought in some LEGO's initially for the boys to get together around, but this week the girls have been all over the box! Hopefully there will be enough LEGO for the boys to play with tomorrow or next week. I really want to include a couple of them and create a small group where they can show their skills to the others and maybe create some new bonds.

Also, I have talked with Nicolai, who is running Klubben at the top of Skipperhuset, where stage 5-7 can be in the afternoon. We have agreed that Stage 4 can join them on Fridays to get a sneak peak of what's in store for them next year, if they continue in SFO/Klubben. This also means that they can buy toasts and sodas for 5 DKK each, so maybe they will ask for money on Fridays henceforth :)

Next week is health week in SFO, and there will be some activities the children could sign up for. I think all the groups are filled by now. There will be focus on healthy food, running, yoga etc.

As I have written out earlier, the children have a big wish to come home and visit each other one day after school. Sort of like when you have birthday groups coming to your home, but this time, both girls and boys. I promised I would write to you with this wish, and so, if you have the opportunity to welcome 14 children + me a normal weekday after school, please feel free to let me know, so we can arrange something :)

Best wishes

Med venlig hilsen

? after school老師的來信
Dear Parents.

Here is an update from Inta.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the great start we've had. It is nice to feel your support of the SFO and our values. This first period of the school year, is all about getting to know each other, both children and adults, and I must say, that I enjoy getting to know your children a little better every day – both from S1 and S2.

I would like to thank you all for some very good and constructive parent/sfo meetings. Thank you for being engaged in the SFO and for being open to me about your children, I very strongly believe that it is the foundation of a good cooperation between the home and the SFO. It also gives me the best opportunities to know how I can provide support for the developement and well being of your children.

A while ago, we had our football tournament, Skipper Cup, which was a huge succes. I was very happy to see, that both S1 and S2 participated with a team each and it made me very proud to see, how they worked together and supported each other on the field. It was truly a great day and a lot of the children told me, that they had fun – even though they didn't win. This was music to my ears, as we had been talking about this before the games. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but if you had fun, you won anyway :)

Next week, we are having a health Week in SFO, where the children can sign up for different activities each day. There will be a cooking class, a massage class, a yoga class and a running class. I have been talking to the children about this and during this week, I am helping them sign up to the activities they want to participate in. I have attached a plan, where you can see when you children are participating in something, so you can adjust your pick-up schedule after this (if you are able to).

I am getting to know the class better and better by each day and I am working on building a strong relation to them. This also goes for the children. I can see that they are beginning to form relations and getting to know each other better. It is very important for me to support the developement of relations between the children in the class, as they are goin to be classmates for a long time to come. If I see a child looking for someone to play with, I will offer my help to ask other children to play or help them find some of their classmates.

Usually, I have an hour pr week during SFO time for SFO-samling. SFO-samling is my time with the kids, where we can work on different social matters, the relations in the class or discuss the well being of the class, including any problems or challenges that might occur. This year, S1 has very long days, so I think it is too much, to keep them an extra hour, when school finishes - they are tired at this point, and instead of SFO-samling being something great, it might be a negative thing to them. I will reevaluate this after christmas, when the children are a little more experienced in the school. But for now, I have been given the opportunity to bring the work I would usually do i SFO-samling, to Klassens Time with Abbie on thursdays in the last lesson.

These first weeks, we have been focusing on emotions. I have brought pictures with children showing different emotions and we have been practising reading emotions of others as well as talking about, what can make us feel different things. We have gone through the basic emotions (happy, sad, angry, scared, suprised, disgust) and we are now taking on harder pictures, where we will be analyzing pictures with more than one person, in a recognizable social situation. I am really impressed of how much the children has to say about the different pictures and I see a huge improvement when it comes to concentrating on what we are talking about.

At the end of the lesson we do some ”GoNoddles” which is movement to music (brain breaks), we usually have two speedy ones and one relaxation one. The children really enjoy this and they actually comes to me asking for it on other days as well.

As I wrote in my first Newsletter, it would be really nice, if you would take the time to write a few sentences about your family and your children's after school activities or interests. This gives me a more holistic veiw and a better opportunity of understanding your children and talking with them about their families.

S2

In SFO-samling with S2, we have been spending some time getting to know each other a little better. As I’m new to them, it is important for me to give them time and opportunity to get to know me and I must say, that I feel very welcomed by them. I have been talking to the kids about what they like to do during SFO-time, both to get to know them better, but also to involve them in, what could happen during SFO-time – I will say though, we can’t roast marshmallows every day [Symbol]

Ole is also a part of SFO-samling and last time, he introduced us to hat-theater. Some of the children tried it last year, but the concept was new to me. In hat-theater there are four actors at a time. They each get to pick a hat and choose which character they are. Then the story begins! Ole is telling a story, where he guides the actors through both lines and acts, as well as including the audience in decisions during the story. It is very interresting to see the children putting themselves out there and being creative in forming their characters. Some are more courages than others, but everyone felt comfortable in participating and I’m sure, that they will develope as we get to do more theater in the future.
When the children put on a hat and steps into character, it is not just fun and games. Through this proces, the children gets to experiment with different sides of their personality, eg the shy boy suddenly turns into a very outgoing DJ and gets to experiment with himself in a new role. In that way, they get an oportunity to develope a stronger sense of themselves. It also contributes to strengthening the relations within the group by giving them a fun joined experience and it gives them the oportunity to see each other in a different light.
The children was very excited during the theater and are already asking to do it again :)

Just a few reminders…

Wardrobe
The weather is changing a lot these days, so please make sure, that your child has clothes that suits the weather. It is also a good idea to restock the boxes with changing clothes, as we don’t have extra clothes for the children in the SFO. If your child gets wet and there is no dry clothes in the box, we will call you and it is up to you, to either bring some dry clothes or pick your child up. This is to avoid the children walking around in wet clothes, getting cold and sick.

Picking up your child
When you enter the SFO to pick up your child, they are very happy to see you and maybe they are excited to show you, what they have been doing during the day. Sometimes one of us staff members has important information for you or questions regarding your child’s well being. We ask you, to please finish your phonecalls or texts before entering the SFO, as we think it is important to focus on the good pick-up situation for your child (and that you are able to get messages from us) and it can be hard, when you’re on the phone at the same time.

As always, you are more than welcome to contact me, if you any questions or concerns.
Have a nice weekend!

Kind regards
Rikke
