S1 after school 老師來信

2017年11月09日
Dear parents,

It’s time for another update from me.

As you probably have noticed, we have a new face in Inta Mini. Diana was hired during the autumn holiday and is now the contact person for S2. As we have S1 and S2 under the same roof, you will see her everyday and you are most welcome to talk to her, if I’m not around. The children and I are enjoying getting to know Diana better and better each day!

A copule of week sago we had our Halloween party. I was happy to see that there were children from S1 and S2 attending. I was very exited to see, how the S1 children would react to the party, as it was their first. At the beginning of the party, some of them preferred to stay close to me, which I find very natural, as it was e new and unknown situation for them. As the party continued, they got more curious and independant and explored the party and the different activities on their own terms. It was a fun evening and I’ve only heard good things from the children.

Since we got back from the autumn break, the children have started to experiment much more in terms of what they can and can’t do in the SFO (does no really means no, what happens if I do this, even though I know it’s not the smartest thing to do, and so on) and from time to time, they are testing each others limits. For me, it is a good sign, as it shows me that they are at a point now, where they feel safe in the SFO, with each other and with me. So right now my focus with them is two sided; on one side, we put a lot of energy in how we treat each other and to think before acting and on the other side we spend time on, basic understanding of what they can and can’t do.
It is very important for me to say, that this is a very normal and healthy developement for the children, so please don’t be worried :)

Right now, the big activities in Inta Mini is Hama Beads and building Lego. The children are really enjoying these activities and I think it’s great to see how much effort they put in them. Both activities are very good for supporting their fine motoricle skills, but they are also very social activities. When building Legos, they often help each other develope new ideas or finding just the right brick. This developes their cooperation skills and also the ability to listen to another persons ideas and taking them in to cosideration. When they are making Hama beads, they help each other find the right colors and read the recipe (if they are using one), this also supports the cooperation, but I also see a lot of kindness, when they totally forget about their own project, because they are helping a friend find the colors they need. Both activies supports the developement of using your imagination and demands a lot of focus and concentration. So when you see your child doing these activities, they are not only working on the Hama beads or the Legos, they are also working on developing important sides of their social awareness.
When we are talking Hama Beads, wehave decided to make two ironing times every day (15.00 and 15.30), as we experienced that the massive interest for the activity forced one of us to be in the kitchen, ironing almost the entire day. We don’t believe that this is the best way to use our resources, so that’s why we decided to have fixed ironing times – to make sure, that we can spend the majority of our time on the most important, your children.

The next couple of weeks, some of my collegues are arranging a workshop where the children can making christmas decorations out of glass. It will be in the creative workshop (under Skipperhuset) during SFO-time. I will inform the children about this activity. On that note, if you have some empty wine bottles we would like to take them off your hands for this project, especially the coloured ones. Thanks!

Warm clothes
Please remember to bring warm clothes for your child. A winter jacket, winter boots, gloves and a hat, is needed on the colder days. We are outside everyday, some days longer than others and it is so important that your child is dressed for this. I see some children who are freezing and we are not always able to let them inside earlier, if school is not finished yet.

During november, I’m taking a course so I will be absent, the days are 14th, 15th, 22nd and 23rd of november.

That’s it for me now!

As always, if you have any questionsor concerns, please feel free to come and talk to me in inta or send me and email.

Kind Regards
Rikke
