Your baby is probably working on cruising this month, pulling himself up on whatever he can and taking (or attempting to take) a few steps. Most babies take their first steps sometime between 9 and 12 months and are walking well by the time they''re 14 or 15 months old. To keep your 9-month-old safe, make sure you secure freestanding bookshelves, tippy lamps, and other unstable furniture that might tumble when he grabs it. Leave his feet bare, too; that''ll help him keep his balance as he takes those first stumbling steps. And of course, stay close by to lend a helping hand.
