LITERACY
This week in Literacy we will be beginning a series of lessons centred on persuasion. The children will be learning how to make the most effective language choices when trying to convinse an audience of their view point. This will be based around our water topic, with the children able to choose their topic for persuasion.

KEY VOCABULARY
Fact, opinion, persuasion, debate, reason

MATHS
This week in maths we will be exploring decimals, fractions and percentages in greater depth. We will begin to look at how these topics are integrated and how to make quick conversions between them. The students will apply their knowledge of fractions from earlier in the year and consolidate this into problem solving abilities.

THEMED LEARNING
This term our new Themed Learning topic is water. This will be a unit that will involve a great deal of practical scientific investigation and the study of some challenging geographical case studies. In the second week we will be looking at the issue of water scarcity across the globe and how communities overcome these challenges. We will also be beginning some scientific investigations into the properties of water.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY
This week the children will use a new touch typing program and will continue to learn the coding language ‘Python’.

PSHCE
In PSHCE this week we will focus further on fostering new relationships, creating rules and expectations for the group and how to work together successfully. We will reflect on what we achieved last term and discuss new personal targtes for the term ahead. We will also welcome some new children to Year 6 and will discuss how we can be helpful in settling them into their new school.
