Free Sustainability and Food Waste Composting Workshop April 23

2011年04月23日
Aliso Viejo residents are invited to attend a free Sustainability Workshop on April 23 at the Amphitheater next to Grand Park at Aliso Viejo Town Center (off Aliso Creek Road and Pacific Park Drive).

The workshop will provide residents with guidelines for creating compost from food scraps and yard waste from their homes; making eco-friendly purchases to reduce their waste reduction; re-using common everyday items to lessen their contribution to local landfills; and it will show them what can and should be recycled.

Aliso Viejo residents that complete the workshop will receive a $30.35 voucher per household (funded by a grant from CalRecycle) toward the purchase of a $60.35 new vermi-composter unit, which will be available the day of the workshop (only one available per household). Vermi-composting is a composting technique that uses red worms to accelerate the composting process. A vermi-composter unit is a housing unit for the worms, which enables them to process the food waste into compost.

Residents must pre-register by April 15 to Rae Beimer at 949-425-2535, [email protected] or by dropping by City Hall at 12 Journey.
