The Mystery on the Beach (Scribbler)(M)

Professor Polly sat dumbstruck on the sand, "This was not the kind of discovery I expected!". She looked, once again, into the dark hole. She shut her eyes tight and took a deep breath. "I will seriously regret this." she murmured under her breath, and jumped into the hole...

It was pitch black in the hole and it seemed never-ending. Polly screamed her head off but after a while, she gave up. Just as she fully relaxed, she landed with BUMP! A wet, slippery tongue licked her cheek and was followed by a friendly bark.

Polly opened her eyes to find Bounty with his pink tongue hanging out and Robbie holding something shiny. Polly wiped a bead of sweat off her eyebrow and gave a sigh of relief. "What have you got there Robbie?" she asked. "It's a Dumortierite Quartz. It comes from Namibia, it is opaque, it is in the shape of a Round Cabochon......", Robbie blabbered on about the midnight blue gemstone while Professor Polly started to smile. "It's treasure! We're going to be millionaires!" she sang, picking up Bounty happily. Robbie stopped her in her tracks, "But it's not the thing we're looking for." Polly ignored him and reached in her backpack for her extendable ladder and balanced it at the very top of the hole. She climbed on, with Bounty now in her backpack. Robbie started climbing too.

Once at the top, Polly exclaimed, "We may not have the dinosaur fossil you've all been waiting for but we have the Dumortierite Quartz! Come see!" and with that, they started a totally new project as architects, gemstones.
