據說，在愛爾蘭，因恐怖事件而犧牲的青年，寫給雙親的信件中有此詩。在瑪麗蓮夢露逝世25週年追悼會上有人朗誦此詩。約翰•韋恩在某電影導演的追悼會上朗誦此詩。美國911事件紀念會上，有個少女為喪生的父親朗誦的，也是此詩。
在網路也找到原詩。作者還是不確定，不過，以Mary Frye為原作者的說法較為優勢。下面是作者不詳的一首(該是日文版的原詞)，與Mary Frye的原版。此外好像還有不少異版。日文的翻譯異版也不少。
