Waynne開始接受澳洲這邊的教育
媽麻自己也才有機會去比較到底和台灣的教育有什麼不一樣的所在?!
但我是六年一班的學生
我所了解的教育是我那個年代的方式
事隔接近三十年
也不知道台灣目前的基礎教育是不是變得很不一樣了?!
我只想把我覺得澳洲這邊還不錯的教育方式引薦一下
只能說絕對不像台灣那種"填鴨式"的
這邊的教育其實蠻注重小孩的獨立思考和表達意見的
最好的例子就是"Show and Tell"
Show就是要拿出某樣東西給全班同學看
Tell就是要告訴大家這樣東西特別之處在哪並接受大家的提問
這樣的方式其實訓練了小孩多方面的能力:敢言,有膽量,說話的組織力,....
至少這蠻符合我自己對小孩的期許
因為我自己在台灣的教育方式和體系下就缺少這些能力
這應該導因於自己欠缺獨立思考的能力
老師給的就全盤接受鮮少去消化後從中再找出問題
唉! 書都讀不完了哪還有閑空去想去消化去發掘問題呢?!
另一方面在台灣教育下出來的學生都比較害羞很少發聲
我自己在Brisbane的TAFF唸書時就有很深刻的體會
台灣來的英文程度都不錯
但卻很少開金口
不像很多其他國家的逮到機會就嘰哩呱啦地陳述自己的意見不停
只能說我真的不希望自己的小孩再步自己的後塵
剛好澳洲的教育方式可以提供這麼好的訓練機會
而且這種Show and Tell是會一直持續的
至少在小學階段每年級都有
相信Waynne在其中一定會蠻有收獲的
以下是Waynne的老師Mrs Pant對於Show and Tell給家長的一段話:
The goals of show and tell sessions are for your child to stand in front of the group and present information orally in a clear and sequential manner. We will focus on the questions of Who? What? When? Where? and Why? (if appropriate).
Children should have an idea of what they will be going to say. I prefer no toys unless it is a birthday gift. Some ideas could be: book, recounts of holiday and things they have done, photos, insects, rocks, newspaper cuttings or a talk about family members. Please donot be under pressure to have a fantastic presentation. Let the child choose what they want to do as then they will be more willing to talk. My aim is not to pressure the child so if he/she is reluctant please give lots of positive encouragement as will I.
