Living LEGO-cy: Legendary LEGOs and Terrific Trains Museum of American Heritage in Palo Alto It was an eye opening and inspiring experience for the girls to see what people can build with Lego. After the seeing the exhibition, we went to Target and Toys R Us to look for Lego for the girls to build. Gush! A nice sets cost lots of money.......and none of the nice ones are on sale. We ended up buying nothing. Maybe I will wait for the Buy one get the second one 50% off coupon.

The girls watched Disney's Alice in Wonderland (2010) last year. Movie usually are somewhat different from the originated books. And to tell the whole story in an hour or so on screen means a lot of details need to be omitted, so I borrowed the book on CD for the girls to listen to the complete story. The CDs also includes Alice Through The Looking Glass.
今天风光明媚. SODA SPRING 和前天的情景 大不相同. 今天停车场全满了. 还好我們开的是 4 WHEEL DRIVE 可以往有积雪的坡上找到停车的地方. 爸爸意外的发现有一个专门玩 SLED 的地方. SKI LESSON 全满, PLANET KIDS 也是很拥挤.所以今天就不滑雪啦!
白天在 DOWNTOWN RENO TRUCKEE RIVER 旁边的室外溜冰场溜冰. 晚上带小朋在 CIRCUS CIRCUS MIDWAY 里玩.又带回两大袋子的娃娃回来.
今天碰上了大雪. Soda Spring 滑雪场没有太多人.所以都不须要排队. 上次来的时侯, 光等租鞋和SKI 就等了很久. 这是好的地方. 不好的地方就是太冷了. 手套如果脱下来照相或拿东西, 手一下就冻僵了. 小孩有受不了这么寒冷.媛媛一直吵着要去HOTEL.
Went to Jelly Belly today. The line got much longer when we finished our factory tour, so the earlier arrival the shorter wait time. It was nice to see the side of Jelly Belly factory. At the very begining, Jelly Beans only had 8 basic flovars. Now, there are hundereds of flavors in the gift shop to choose from. They even came up with some weired and nasty flavors such as -Canned Dog Food -Skunk Spray -Rotten Egg -Centipede -Booger -Baby Wipes -Barf -Moldy Cheese -Pencil Shavings -Toothpaste
San Francisco Zoo looks very different from my last visit about 10+ years ago. The entrance, restrooms, and many of the animal habitats are newly renovated. The girls seems to enjoy watching the baby gorrila and feeding the goats the most. Before heading home, we stopped by SF beach and collected lots of beautiful sand dollars. Usually, it is hard to find the unchipped or unbroken sand dollar from SF beach, but today there were lots.......
Unlike the weather forecast stated, today wasn't raining, at least for the most part of the day. Went to Happy Hollow and it was very quiet compare to our previous visits. I guess the forecast did the trick. Strolling through San Jose Japanese Garden on the way back.

Music for Families Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2pm Davies Symphony Hall This is one of San Francisco Symphony's Family Music Series. It is great introductory of classic music to children. The concert is not too long with an intermission in between. After the concert, we went to Union Square to see the Christmas tree and Macy's window decorations, and St. Francis Hotel Sugar Castle. We were planning to ice skate in the outdoor rink, but it was raining. We had to come back again when the weather is better.
One of San Francisco Christmas attractions - The Sugar Castle at St. Francis Hotel. The castle is entirely edible, and is comprised of the following sumptuous ingredients: • 70 pounds of gingerbread • 130 pounds of pastillage (Powdered sugar, egg white and gelatin dough) • 40 pounds of pulled and bubble sugar • Royal icing made of 300 pounds of sugar and egg whites • 40 pounds of molasses • 60 pounds of flour • 100 pounds of assorted Christmas Candy • And 360 hours of hard work
Since Serena was so nervous at her piano recital, she made some mistakes on all three songs. I had her practice again after the recital, and uploaded the practice instead of her recital.
Serena told me she had stage fright today. She made mistakes in all three songs. Being the first one on stage and playing three songs can be really scary for a shy girl like her. I am very proud of her being the first one on stage and being able to go on to without getting stuck with her mistakes. Next time, she should avoid being first on stage and should just play two songs only. She practice good at home, so I will upload her practice at home instead of her recital. Catherine, on the other hand, made couple mistakes during her recital, but over all it is better than what I expected. I was really nervous for her, but her recital turned out not bad. She played Silent Night and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
The church transformed into a biblical city of Bethlehem. It was quite an experience to walk in the market place and watch the show about Jesus' birth in a stable. http://www.bethlehemsc.com/
1st Trimester Report Card
It is Yi-Ping and Burt's 10 year anniversary today. I babysit their girls for a few hours so they can go celebrating. Now the girls are older, I just let them have their own fun. Once a while, Sharon got left out but just for a short period of time.
Nancy and 余亮 Come to visit
Went to Holiday in the Park at Discovery Kingdom for the Bobsled ride at the Snow Hill. It was fun without having to drive a long way to the snow. The girls even had snowball fight in the samll area beside the Snow Hill. Night is beautiful with millions of lights in the park. We forgot to bring extra clothes, and it became so cold after dark. We had to left a little after 5:30pm because we were freezing. Hope we can come back another time in our warm winter gears before year 2011.
和 Sonia 到 Great Mall 从凌晨逛到早上七点多才回家．Mall 里真的是人山人海Teenagers超多的．光在 Children's Place 排队进去和付帐就等了将近３个小时．真的是很恐怖．到四点钟左右人群才稍微散去．是有比较便宜，不过明年我宁愿在家睡觉也不去省那一点钱了． 在路上还被警察在高速公路上栏下来．警察说我开车摇摇晃晃且开太慢了．开太慢是真的，因为和 Sonia 在聊天所以疏忽了车速．摇摇晃晃我觉的应该是不至于．不过他人很好，没开罚单．真是有惊无险呀！看来真的以后不要揍这种热闹．
今天是感恩节.Christine 请我们到她家里吃火锅.洋洋和媛媛在她们家玩的很开心. 洋洋尤其是很喜欢她们家的狗狗, Peril. Joanne 是个很慷慨的小孩.看洋洋和媛媛喜欢她的珍珠手环及 Little Pet Shop 的动物, 她全部要送给她们两个. 离开前我请她们还给Joanne. 她慷慨大方让我们觉得很感动.
Disney movie " Tangled" is played in the movie theater first day today. We went to AMC to watched the movie today. It wasn't crowded at all and the movie is really good and funny. After the movie, we went to Korean market to get the Korean Mochi Bread Mix and also went to Honey Baked to get its juicy and tender turkey. I am going to try baking the mochi bread tomorrow.
Went to the bowling alley with Katy, Sharon, Joanne, and Evelyn. After the bowling, Christine and her girl went to the park with us.
Christine told me about Joanne's complains about Serena being bossy to her in school. I am a little surprised to hear that because Serena frequently complained about other kids being bossy in school and thus she didn't like to play with certain kids. Now, herself is falling in that trap also. All her 1st grade classmates ended up like to play with Catherine, and sometimes play against her. Last night, I had a talk with Catherine about not to play against her sister at school and asked Serena to be more cooperate and tolerant with other kids. Hope they will listen and improve once they go back to school after holidays. Serena is too spoiled by us, so she sometimes insist on things that are not reasonable.For example, she applies " taking turn" rule on wining. She thinks that she has to win just like everybody else when she runs slower than everybody else and always got tagged. When I tried to explain to her wining depends on ability, she just think that is not fair. She was crying when she recalled how her sister and first grade friends stuck their tongue out at her last week during recess. I feel sorry for her having to go through this at school, but at the same time feel that she has to change her attitude and work on her social skills. Worries on kids never end. Last week while in AR Store, I saw Julian Montelongo's mom left early to help her daughter because her daughter was bullied by another girl in Horner Jr. High. Catherine seems more mature than last year while Serena seems to have a little trouble making friends in school.
Those workbooks seldom on sale, but they are now 40% off. I purchased about 20 workbooks for math and writing for less than $50.
Help with AR store setup at 1pm at the library. The girls had sneak peek on items in the AR store. Silly Bandz is what they are most interested to get tomorrow, Serena also wants to get the monkey plushy.
Although Serena will be a little disappointed, Katy and I strongly feel that we need to find "think alike" parents to form a troop that can be "build to last".
After about 20+ classes, Serena finally finished her butterfly. Her butterfly will be in a drawing contest in March 2011.
Since the girls are reading the book, I rented the movie for them to watched at home today. It is a very good movie. Not sure how is Charlotte's Web 2. Maybe I should check out the book first.
Went to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo with Katy and Sharon.
