Day out to West of Osaka-Himeji.
First, optional stop at Akashi to visit 魚ソ棚商店街 for brunch/lunch. See the live fish and crawling octopus. Direction:
• JR Pass: JR-Namba Station -> Yamatoji Line -> Imamiya Station -> Osaka Loop Line -> Osaka Station -> Tokaido-Sanyo Line-> Akashi Station(1hr 15min)
• Kansai Thru Pass: Hanshin Train to Sanyo-Akashi (~1.5hr)
Continue train journey for 25min(JR) -35min(Hanshin) to Sanyo Himeji/JR Himeji Station. Visit World Heritage Himeji castle白鷺城 - UNSECO World Heritage Site and Japan’s most spectacular castle and is the largest, most perfectly designed original castle that remains in Japan. 830-1700.
On the return , if time permit, stop by Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, the world’s longest suspension bridge, with a length of 3,911 m , connecting Honshu, the main island of Japan, and Awaji island. There is an exhibition centre and a promenade. Approx.5-minute walk from Mailo(JR) or Maiko-Koen (Sanyo) Station.
Dinner at Kobe’s famous steak at 和黒 北野?本店 (中央区中山手通 1−22−13, ёюДユЭЪьЗ1F. ) 10 min walk North from Kobe-Sannomiya Station. Reservation made.
