https://jobportal.ku.dk/alle-opslag/?show=147980 Postdoctoral positions on Nanomechanical Quantum Sensors At the Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen we currently have several postdoctoral positions on the development of nanomechanical force sensors and their application in classical and quantum sensing. The Quantum Optomechanics group at the Niels Bohr Institute has pioneered a new approach to engineer mechanical sensors of unprecedented coherence. We now seek support to push the development of a new generation of sensors for quantum optomechanical measurements, coupling of mechanical resonators to nuclear spins, subnanometer magnetic resonance imaging, and mass density measurements of individual molecules. This work is carried out in collaboration with experts at ETH Zurich in the field of force microscopy and magnetic quantum sensing. The postdocs will develop and implement new concepts for force sensors and transducers, drawing on phononic engineering, parametric transduction and quantum feedback techniques. Successful candidates will have a strong PhD in experimental physics or relevant engineering disciplines, and extensive experience in finite-element modeling (preferably MEMS, nanomechanics) and nanofabrication techniques including electron beam lithography. Experience with microwave and/or optical interferometry, good understanding of photonic/phononic crystals, and basic quantum measurement theory complete the profile of the ideal candidate.
